These Terms of Service govern your use of CiteCSM. By using the service, you agree to these terms.

1. Service description

CiteCSM is a citation formatting tool. It converts Bluebook and ALWD citations into California Style Manual (4th ed.) format, checks citations already written in CSM, and builds CSM citations from source details. It is not a legal research platform and does not provide legal advice.

2. Accuracy disclaimer

While we strive for accuracy, CiteCSM does not guarantee the correctness of any citation output. Users must verify all citations against primary authority before use in legal proceedings.

3. Pricing

CiteCSM offers a free tier — 10 citations every month, no account required — and a Pro plan for unlimited citations at $29/month or $290/year.

4. Billing and subscriptions

This section applies to paid Pro subscriptions. The free tier requires no payment information and no subscription, so these billing terms do not apply to it.

Billing cycle and renewal. Pro is a recurring subscription billed in advance through our payment processor, Stripe. You choose a monthly or annual plan at the price shown in the Pricing section above, and your subscription automatically renews for another cycle at the end of each period until you cancel. All prices are charged in U.S. dollars.

How to cancel. You can cancel at any time. Sign in, open your account page, and select “Manage subscription” to reach the Stripe billing portal, where you can cancel your subscription yourself.

Effect of cancellation. When you cancel, your subscription stops renewing and your Pro access continues until the end of the billing period you have already paid for; it then reverts to the free tier. We do not prorate or refund the unused part of a billing period.

Refunds. Except where required by law, all payments are non-refundable, including payments for partial billing periods.

Failed payments. If a renewal payment fails, your subscription becomes past due and your access reverts to free-tier limits. Stripe automatically retries the payment for a period; if it is not resolved, the subscription is canceled.

Price changes. We may change subscription prices. Any change applies only to future billing cycles: we will notify you before your subscription renews at a new price, and you may cancel before the change takes effect.

Taxes. We do not currently add sales tax or VAT at checkout. If tax collection later becomes required, the total you are charged may include applicable taxes.

Account deletion. If you delete your account, we cancel any active subscription immediately as part of the deletion. Because that cancellation is immediate rather than at the end of a billing period, no refund is issued for the remainder of the period.
